Not Every Agent Wearing a Cape Can Fly

There is no shortage of real estate agents.

Most people probably know 10.

But are they all the same?

You be the judge.

When Things Get Real in Real Estate

Most people think the hard part is finding the home.

It’s not.

The difference between agents shows up when things get real — inspections, negotiations, and decisions that aren’t always straightforward.

This is where experience, communication, and judgment matter.

Not Every “Great” Agent Is the Same

There are a lot of agents who look great on paper.

Awards. Designations. Marketing.

But not all of those things translate into real-world guidance.

Some designations require years of experience and production. Others can be earned in a short class.

There’s a difference — and most buyers don’t know it.

What You Should Actually Expect From a Real Estate Agent

You should expect your agent to:

  • Communicate clearly and consistently
  • Be available when you are — not just banker’s hours
  • Walk you through decisions, not just write contracts
  • Help you understand what matters financially
  • Guide you through inspections and negotiations with clarity

This isn’t about having all the answers.

It’s about knowing how to ask the right questions — so you can make the right decisions.

Ego Has No Place in the Process

Sometimes agents get caught up in “winning.”

Playing hardball. Pushing. Trying to prove something.

But the goal isn’t to win.

The goal is to get you the right house — on the right terms — without unnecessary risk.

That requires knowing when to push… and when not to.

The Right Fit Matters

You should feel confident.
Excited.
Clear about your decisions.

Not pressured. Not rushed. Not uncertain.

One question I often ask buyers before writing an offer:

“Where would you put the Christmas tree?”

Because if you can’t picture yourself in the home — you’re not ready.

And that’s okay.

This Is a Long-Term Relationship

When buyers don’t get a house, it’s easy to feel discouraged.

But the right home does come.

And it’s better when you have someone guiding you through the process — not just pushing you through it.

Final Thought

Not every agent wearing a cape can fly.

And when you’re making one of the biggest decisions of your life, that difference matters.
