But in today’s real estate process, it can move through more systems than most people realize.
When you buy or sell a home, you expect a few things.
Privacy around your finances.
Your email and phone number handled appropriately.
Your personal information protected.
But what most people don’t think about is…
how far that information can travel.
To buy or sell a home, we use systems.
Good ones.
They help with:
They make the process smoother.
Your information doesn’t just stay in one place.
It can move through:
That can include:
Not in a malicious way.
Just… as part of how these systems are built.

There’s also a major player in the space.
We’ll just call it The Giant.
Most people assume once they’re working with an agent,
they’ve stepped outside of that world.
But The Giant has built something much bigger.
A system where you can:
Without ever really leaving their environment.
And without always realizing how connected it all is.

Because when one system can handle:
Search
Showings
Connections
Communication
It doesn’t just participate in the process.
It becomes part of the experience itself.
Even when you think you’ve moved on.
But what most people don’t think about is…
how far that information can travel.
This part matters.
Not every brokerage requires agents to use their systems.
And not every agent chooses to.
Some agents rely heavily on connected platforms.
Others are more selective.
They may:
The transaction still runs through the brokerage.
But how your information moves along the way… can look very different.
With more people choosing to limit how their personal information is shared online, this matters more than ever.
Real estate hasn’t fully caught up to that shift.
This series has been about transparency from the start.
You may not be able to avoid every system—but you do deserve to know how they work.
Speaking of transparency, next week I’ll be breaking down commissions—how they’re structured, and the role “The Giant” plays in shaping the process.
If you’re new to the conversation, start at the beginning. Transparency You Can’t See.
If you’ve been following along through this series, thank you.
This is all written personally by me—because real estate is personal.
